The high voltage on the nozzle end (electrode) is generated by the integrated high voltage cascade in the body of the gun.

Between the earthed/grounded work-piece and the electrode an electrical field is formed with voltages of up to 100kV (100,000V) which transmits a negative charge to the individual powder particles. Due to the fact that they are all negatively charged, the powder particles repel each other and disperse them selves evenly in a fine spray cloud which then lands on the earthed work-piece.

Powder particles which shoot by the work-piece remain in the electrical field and land on the reverse side of the work-piece. The little current caused is bled off by the suspension gear to the earthing. The activation and control of the guns is carried out by a digital control unit which is connected to the guns by a low voltage cable
